Orange Park, FL – Paul D. Sharp, 82, passed peacefully on November 3, 2024, at Haven Hospice in Orange Park. He was born June 2, 1942, in Evening Shade, Arkansas, the son of John Junior and Alta Iona (Brightwell) Sharp.
Paul grew up and graduated from Kalamazoo Central High School, Class of 1960, in Kalamazoo, MI. Following High School, he worked locally in Kalamazoo and was married in 1962 to Joan Slavin. He was drafted and served proudly with the U.S. Army in the 31st Engineer Battalion Black Horse as the Assistant to Captain Lieutenant Friazz during the Vietnam War. He received The Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service while serving with the 20th Engineer Brigade in the Republic of Vietnam.
After the war, he returned home to his wife Joan. They celebrated 60 years of marriage on January 3rd, 2024. He immediately went to work where he began a long Residential Property Management career covering 44 years and the entire southeast United States. He always put his family first and started his career with Kasuba Properties, the largest apartment developer as a Regional Manager which led him to Florida. Later, he started the first of two companies – Sharp Shopper Services, providing evaluation of customer service and analysis to owners of multi-unit commercial and residential properties. Paul always found time to help others through coaching Little League Baseball, Senior Warden of the Episcopal Church, was a Big Brother mentoring special needs teenagers and even found time to teach Real Estate classes at Florida Community College at Jacksonville.
In 2008, he retired from Paul Sharp Realty Group, LLC, a full-service commercial and residential property management company, and in retirement continued his family-first mantra as a loving husband, hall-of-fame father, and a world-class grandfather.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers Tom and Bob Sharp. Surviving in addition to his wife Joan (Slavin) Sharp, are his sons Kevin Sharp and his wife Cherie, his two grandchildren Sydney and Porter Sharp in Newport Beach, CA, Darin Sharp and his wife Kate in Jacksonville, FL, Ryan Sharp and his wife Charlotte in Charlotte, NC and numerous nieces and nephews with Grace Sharp and Paul “Guy” Sharp always nearby.

Prissy Neely

June 16, 1947 — October 24, 2024

Prissy Neely, of Weatherford, Texas, passed away on Thursday, October 24, 2024, in Weatherford, Texas.

A Celebration and Remembrance of Prissy Neely will be held Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., at North Side Baptist Church, 910 N. Main St., Weatherford, Texas. Visitation will be Monday, October 28, 2024, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at North Side Baptist Church.

Prissy Young was born to Clyde and LaRue Young, on June 16, 1947, in Weatherford, Texas, where she lived her whole life. Prissy attended Travis Elementary, Weatherford Middle School, Weatherford High School (Class of 65). She continued her education at Weatherford College receiving an Associate Degree, and then at East Texas State University graduating in 1969 with a BA in Education.

She graduated from ETSU on Friday and went on to work the following Monday at Weatherford High School. She taught physical education and coached volleyball, basketball, boys’ golf, and track. She also was the cheerleading sponsor. She loved her job, and more importantly, she loved her students, especially the girls. Her entire teaching career was with Weatherford High School.

Prissy was 14 and at Brock watching the girls’ basketball game when she first met Leo. But the spark of love could not be nurtured then. Leo was called into the service, and when he returned, he knew he needed to find Prissy! So, he went and got a bunch of dimes for the payphone. He started calling and called Prissy’s Uncle Lee who told Leo if he called Clyde Young, Prissy would probably answer the phone. He did and she did! They dated just a few months and sealed their love in a covenant of marriage at Couts United Methodist Church on July 30, 1971.

After 14 years of marriage, Prissy and Leo were delighted to welcome their daughter into their lives, and they named her Brittny Neely. She was and still is the joy of their lives. Prissy loved being a mom and left teaching to be involved with their daughter as a PTA mom, volunteer room mother, and “uber” for Brittny and her friends. Prissy was so proud of Brittny when she graduated from college and became a teacher in Weatherford and subsequently married Jeremy.

Prissy’s heart was full of love when she became Momo to her grandsons, Jack and Luke.

After her teaching career and raising a daughter, Prissy continued to be active in the community.

She returned to Weatherford High School as a Testing Coordinator. She served on the Manna Board and Senior Center serving Meals on Wheels. She attended WHS football games, basketball games, volleyball matches, always supporting and encouraging whomever she could.

Prissy’s leadership and service has been recognized by many. She was a Lifetime Member of Wesleyan Service Guild Methodist Church and a 50-year member of Delta Kappa Gamma. She was recognized as a Lifetime Member PTA at Austin Elementary (2007), a District Alumni WHS (2007), the WHS Hall of Fame (2008), an Outstanding Citizen of the Year by the Weatherford Chamber of Commerce (2015). Also, she and Leo received the WHS Roger’s Roo Pride Award.

Since its inception, she was the coordinator of the Weatherford Athletic Sports Hall of Fame.

And she was an ardent member of the Weatherford Fab 5.

She was a member of Couts United Methodist Church, and in 2000, transferred her membership to Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). She faithfully served in leadership in both congregations.

Prissy deeply loved her family, people, and sports!

Preceding Prissy’s death are her parents, Clyde and LaRue Young; her father-in-law, RC Neely; and her brother-in-law, Jimmy Ranspot.

Survivors are Prissy’s husband of 53 years, Leo Neely; her daughter and son-in-law, Brittny and Jeremy Glidewell; and her two grandsons, Luke and Jack Glidewell, the joy of her heart; her mother-in-law, Lula Mae Neely, and sister-in-law, Sue Ranspot; all Prissy’s nieces, nephews, cousins, and many deep and abiding friends, whom Prissy and Leo considered family.

In lieu of flowers and to commemorate Prissy’s belief in education and faith, memorials may be made to:

The Logan Express shuttle provides non-stop ground service from Boston Logan Airport to the Peabody Logan Express terminal which is only a few minutes from our hotel. The hotel provides a complimentary shuttle van to and from the Logan Express terminal from 8:00AM to 8:00PM. The Logan Express cost is $12.00 one way or $24.00 round trip.
There are many ground transportation options from the Manchester Regional Airport. The airport website has all the details. www.flymanchester.com.
(Note that the T.F. Green airport in Providence, R.I. will probably come up in Google or Expedia searches for Boston area airports. T.F. Green is located well south of the Boston metro area, while our hotel is on the North side of Boston. Travel through T.F. Green is not recommended).

ORGANIZED SIDE TRIPS
The Boston area is filled with things to do and see. Unfortunately to do the area justice would require several months, which we do not have. Two organized side trips are planned for Saturday, October 5th. The cost for either one is $50.00.
The first trip is to the Minute Man National Historical Park in the Lexington-Concord area. This is where the first two engagements of the Revolutionary War were fought. If you’re interested in seeing where the Shot Heard around the World was fired and walking the Battle Road, this is
the trip for you. You can get more information at https://www.nps.gov/mima.

The second trip is to the newly opened American Heritage Museum. This new center has exhibits that cover WWI and WWII from beginning to end. The museum is operated by the Collings Foundation. I’ve been privileged to visit some of their other facilities and I can tell you they do a superior job. All you military history buffs out there, this trip is for you. Get more
information at www.americanheritagemuseum.org.
Busses will depart the hotel at 9:30 AM on the morning of October 5th and be returning around 3:00 PM.
